Dear Citizen:

Thank you for your interest in the Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.). Founded in 1915, the F.O.P. represents professional, full time law enforcement officers from all ranks and all levels of government.

The F.O.P. is the largest law enforcement organization in the United States with over 310,000 members in over 2,100 Lodges in 49 states. Presently there are over 5400 members and 82 lodges in Oklahoma.

The F.O.P. is law enforcement officers striving to improve their profession by improving working conditions, wages and benefits, and by monitoring legislation affecting law enforcement on the local, state and national levels of government. The F.O.P. is the only national law enforcement organization that is open to all full time law enforcement officers regardless of rank, unlike labor unions.

The Oklahoma State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police was chartered February 20, 1951. The State Lodge is committed to promoting and fostering the enforcement of law and order, improving the individual proficiency of our members in the performance of their duties, encouraging social, charitable and educational activities among law enforcement officers and cultivating a spirit of fraternalism and mutual respect among our members and the citizens we serve.

We believe that these actions will increase the efficiency of the law enforcement profession and firmly establish the confidence of the public in the law enforcement officers who are dedicated to serve and protect them.

The State Lodge has an active Legislative Committee monitoring bills of concern to law enforcement officers and keeps its members abreast of these bills.

The State Lodge is one of the original co-sponsors of the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial and annual Memorial Service in Oklahoma City which honors the almost 600 officers who have died in the line of duty in Oklahoma.

The State Lodge also supports the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and annual Memorial Service conducted each May 15th in Washington, DC.

The Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary is a support organization made up of the families of F.O.P. members. This organization not only supports law enforcement officers but also their families in many ways.

Annually, the State lodge supports a number of scholarships awarded by the Auxiliary to family members of law enforcement officers.

A $500 death benefit is paid to a member's family usually within 48 hours of the member's death. Unfortunately, we average 25 members' deaths annually.

Financial assistance is also available to the local Lodges in the form of grants or loans. Usually, this is for attorney fees incurred by the lodge or for defense of a member in a law suit or labor grievance.

Labor seminars are conducted for Lodges to learn how to best represent their members in collective bargaining and other labor issues.

The F.O.P. is a non-profit fraternal organization under Section 501(C)8 of the Internal Revenue Code. The F.O.P. is not classified as a charity, but does support charities such as Special Olympics and Easter Seals. Donations to the F.O.P. are not tax deductible. (The F.O.P., under Oklahoma Law, is registered as a charitable organization.)

The F.O.P. serves and protects those who serve and protect. Who do the "cops" call when they need help? We call you, our citizens! Law enforcement is a partnership of officers and the citizens. Neither of us can do it alone.

Where does your money go?  The Fundraising Center and operation are in Oklahoma and run by the Oklahoma State F.O.P.

Donations:

Donations may be made directly to the State Lodge and should be made payable to the "OK State F.O.P." and sent to P.O. Box 690418 Tulsa, OK 74169-0418 - 100% of these donations go to the State Lodge and stay in Oklahoma, however they are not tax deductible.
